Superintendent's Welcome!

Greetings from RSU #24,
 
I hope that each of you are enjoying the string of nice summer weather that we have been experiencing.  Although the temperatures have been pretty high, I will take a hot July day over a cold January day anytime!!!!
 
At its organizational meeting on July 14th, the RSU Board of Directors voted Jeff Alley from the town of Winter Harbor as the Board Chair. Mary Cowperthwaite from Gouldsboro was voted as the Vice Chair. If interested, Board meetings typically take place on the first Tuesday of each month at Sumner in the auditorium. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and agendas are posted ahead of time on our website. There are a number of subcommittees that meet on Tuesdays throughout the month, including: Educational Programming, Budget and Finance, Policy, Facilities and Transportation, and Personnel. We do have a number of open positions and will welcome applications for the following positions:  Sumner Middle School Art, Sumner High School Math, Sumner Middle/High School World Language, and Sumner Middle/High School Health.  If you are interested or know someone who might be a possible option for us, the application can be found on our website.
 
For those planning ahead, students in grades K-6 and grade 9 will begin school on August 31st.  The remaining students will join them on September 1st.
