Superintendent's Welcome!

Greetings from RSU #24,

April vacation for our schools is a milestone in that we have survived the tough stretch that is the month of March and we prepare ourselves for the fast and furious last six plus weeks of school.  The arrival of warmer weather brings a renewed energy from our students and an increasing excitement that will lead up to the end of the school year.   With that in mind, June 12th is the last day for students at Mountain View, Ella Lewis, Sumner and the Adult Education Program.  June 13th is the last day for students at Cave Hill and Peninsula.  We will dismiss from Sumner at 11:30 on the 12th and all grammar school buses will depart as soon as buses are loaded at the grammar schools.  On the 13th, we will release students at 11:30 and summer vacation will begin for our schools.

For those planning ahead, the Sumner Memorial High School class night is Tuesday, June 3rd and graduation is Thursday, June 5th.  Sumner Middle School will hold its 8th grade promotion on June 9th.  The Adult Education Certificate Ceremony is June 4th and Adult Education Graduation is the 11th.

The members of the RSU Budget and Finance Committee completed their work reviewing the various budgets.  The full budget (Adult Education/PK-12) was presented to the Board of Directors on April 15th and the budget was approved to move forward to the District Budget Meeting which will take place on May 28th at Sumner beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Information on the FY 2026 budget can be found at the FY 26 Budget Proposal link on the leefthand side of the district webpage (rsu24.org).   The final step in the budget process is the Budget Referendum held on June 10th.  Referendum voting takes place at your local voting stations.  We will mail the FY 2026 budget information out to our residents after the District Budget Meeting.

Please know that we have a number of anticipated positions open for next school year.  Please check our website to find the most up-to-date list of vacancies.
