The winter sports season is almost here! Sumner’s Varsity Boys and Girls basketball teams will kick things off on December 2 with pre-season home games against MCI. Come out and cheer on our Tigers as they start the new season strong!
The Boosters are gearing up for another busy winter and are always looking for extra hands. If you’d like to help out—whether it’s cooking, working in concessions, or assisting with tournaments—please reach out to Cindy Crowley ([email protected]) or Ginny Dennison ([email protected]). Your support helps make these events a success! Our next meeting will be Dec. 1 at 5:30pm in the conference room. Please join us in person or via zoom (link posted on our Facebook page the day of the meeting).
This season, fans will notice some fresh new gear on the athletes. Thanks to the Boosters, the varsity girls and boys basketball teams will debut new shooting shirts, and the winter track team will have new long-sleeved jerseys for their meets. We also helped outfit the girls varsity team with new warm-up pants—they look fantastic!
In addition to supporting athletics, Boosters will be spreading some holiday cheer at the CMSLC’s Homegrown Holiday Fair and Festival of Trees on November 22 and 23. Stop by our concession stand for a snack, visit our Booster table to check out new winter beanies, sweatshirts, and T-shirts, and don’t forget to buy tickets for our Festival of Trees entry! Our tree will be loaded with Sumner gear, gift cards, and other fun merchandise—rumor has it there might even be a gift card to The Forge tucked in there!

As we look at December and the colder temperatures, inclement weather impacts our day-to-day operations. For school cancellations, we will continue to use the local media to spread the word. In addition, we use our "robocall" system which will contact parents directly IF their numbers are accurate in our student information system. If you are a parent and have had a recent phone number change, please make sure that you let the office (at your child's school) know your new number so that we can update the system.
