Superintendent's Welcome!

Greetings from RSU #24,

 

Well, it's hard to believe that we are within weeks of starting school.  I do not know where the time went but we are gearing up to welcome our staff and students during the last week of August.  Our students in pre-K to sixth grade and our freshmen will begin school on Thursday, August 28th.  They will be joined by the remaining students on Friday, August 29th.  Even though the 29th is a Friday, we will have a regular school day with Sumner Middle and High School dismissing at 2:30 and the other schools to follow.

 

A special thank you to our maintenance/custodial staff.  They do a tremendous amount of upkeep and improvements in our buildings during the summer.  They have been waxing floors, painting, and getting to the much needed fixes in order to prepare for the arrival of staff and students for our next school year.  

 

We are in the final stages of a large capital improvement project at the Mountain View School that will provide much needed parking space and replacement of the pavement that should last for years to come.  In addition, we completed a major carpet to tile project at Mountain View that will provide for better air quality in those spaces. 

 

A reminder to check out our Sumner Adult Education website to see what will be offered in the coming months.  Whether enrichment learning opportunities, workforce readiness, or academic/high school completion, there is much to explore at maineadulted.org/location/rsu-24-adult-education/ . 

 

For our parents/students, you should be receiving communication from your respective school(s) in the coming days.  This information should prepare you for the start of the upcoming school year and beyond.
