Regional School Unit (RSU) 24 is accepting bids for snow plowing and salting services at district facilities.  Required plowing and salting must be completed in the early morning prior to the first scheduled bus departure from the bus garage and prior to scheduled student and/or bus arrival and/or dismissal times at each of the school facilities.  Services are required whenever conditions dictate, whether or not associated with a storm.


Areas to be plowed and salted may include but not limited to driveways, parking areas, and/or paved playground areas.  Prospective bidders should contact Facilities & Operations Manager, Janet Jordan, at 422-2017, Ext. 2107 or [email protected] for site specific plowing/salting instructions or before preparing quotes.


The contract period for all locations is for three (3) seasons, 2026-2027, 2027-2028, and 2028-2029.


RSU 24 is seeking plowing and salting bids for the following six (6)  locations:

  • Cave Hill School – Eastbrook
  • Ella Lewis School – Steuben
  • Mountain View School – Sullivan
  • Peninsula School – Prospect Harbor
  • Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus – Sullivan
  • RSU 24 District Services Facility/Bus Garage – Sullivan

Bids must be expressed in terms of price per season for all three seasons.  Payment will be made in six (6) installments, one each in the months of November, December, January, February, March, and April.  Prospective contractors may bid on one location, all locations, or any combination of locations. However, the bid must provide a separate quote for each location.  Locations will be awarded individually.


All equipment and personnel to complete the work must be provided by the bidder and be reflected in the bid price.  


Bidders must indicate in their bid documents:

  1. The specific type of equipment that they propose to use;  
  2. Provide assurances in the bid document that they have contingencies in the case of equipment malfunction or breakdown;  
  3. Are equipped to deal with heavy snowfall;
  4. Have backup personnel available at all times;  
  5. Bidders must have access to front end loaders or other sufficient equipment to move/or remove excessive snow when required; 
  6. Bidders must provide proof of General Liability Insurance coverage of not less than $1,000,000/each occurrence with the bid documents and must provide timely certificates of coverage for each year of the contract.  

Sealed bids clearly marked “RSU 24 Bid: Snow Removal” will be opened and read aloud at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, March 16th, at the District Services Facility located at 2165 US Highway 1 in Sullivan.  Quotes may be provided on letterhead or stationary.
