Hancock Grammar School

Our Hancock Grammar School Cheerleaders placed 1st at the weekend state competition in Bangor. Great job girls! The Hancock peewees did great as well, getting 2nd place in their division. Nice work to everyone, athletes and coaches!

At our RSU Board Meeting tonight, the Board unanimously approved our 8th grade class trip to Boston. Nice job Mrs. Beals with the presentation to the board. Now... to finish our fundraising! See's Candy currently for sale, and our big dance is coming up on the 16th!

Congratulations and nice work to Miss Devereaux and our HGS Jazz Band! They got a "2" rating at districts (1 is the highest score) and all of our soloists got 2's as well - except Lauren Hale, who got a 1! Great job everyone! Looking forward to states!

Terry Coffin Memorial Fundraising Effort!

The winter sports awards have been scheduled for Thursday, 3/7 at 6 p.m. Also, we are doing a very important fundraiser on Tuesday, March 5th, at Denny's. To honor the Coffins, the staff of HGS will be serving up dinner to raise money for this project. Please come have a meal and help us out!

The eighth grade bottle drive has been postponed once again. Please stay tuned, new date TBA after break. Thank you for your patience!

The summer camp scholarship process has begun. The Hancock Point Chapel Society generously funds summer camp experiences each year for Hancock students. It is open to 6-8th grade students from Hancock, and the applications are due April 5th. They can be picked up in the office after break. Please call the school for more information.

Congratulations to HGS' two spellers, Dax Crowley and Sierra Sargent. Dax made it to the 4th round, and Sierra placed in the top 10! Congratulations as well to Brandon Aponte, from Downeast Homeschool Coop, who won the bee.

From last night's games, we had some excellent work by both boys' and girls' teams! Our boys lost by 2 points to first-place Cave Hill in Overtime - valiant effort boys! Our girls won and will be playing in the Championship Game. This game is 5 pm, Monday evening, at Sumner High School. There is a gate charge for this game, Adults $3, Students $1, families max of $10 total charge. Go Hornets!

Basketball playoffs are Thursday. The girls will play at home vs. Peninsula, the boys will play at Cave Hill. Both games are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Go Hornets!
