Project Subcommittees

There are opportunities for community members to participate in subcommittee work for the new building project.  Community volunteers and RSU24 staff have joined the following subcommittees and have been meeting since May of 2018 to offer their expertise and provide input for the new middle/high school project design.  Sub-Committees are responsible for meeting as a group and reporting out to the Building Committee at selected intervals and milestones.

  • Technology Education & Industrial Arts
The TE & IA Sub-Committee will develop a recommendation of programs, learning spaces and room sizes for learning Labs dedicated to the teaching of Industrial arts, technology and career work programs. The Committee should consider new evolving programs and the types of flexibility needed to accommodate new career technologies. Lab Systems to be considered should include the school's structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and teaching tools.
  • Physical Education & Athletics
The Physical Education & Athletics Sub-Committee will work with the School’s AD, Coaches, PE teachers, athletic teams, boosters, and other members of the RSU 24 community, to develop proposed goals for the new or renovated school pertaining, but not limited to, the built athletic facilities such as a gym, locker rooms, trainer, athletic fields, parking and support facilities.
  • Sustainability & Energy
The Sustainability & Energy Sub-Committee will propose goals for the new high school pertaining to, but not limited to, high-performance components such as the integration of biomass, geothermal, solar, daylighting, water efficiency, exterior envelope insulation, as well as "green" materials and fixtures. They will also establish goals for how the school could utilize sustainable elements as teaching tools for the students and RSU community.
  • Arts and Performance
This Subcommittee will consider the types of spaces needed for teaching the Arts as well as presenting the arts in public performances. The committee will consider 2 and 3-dimensional art as well as music, theater and lecture spaces. Presentations of student projects is an integral component of today’s schools and will continue to be so in the future. This committee should consider outside stakeholders that may want to teach in the schools or use the facilities for public performances.
