77 DAYS OF SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

EEMS K-4 77 DAYS OF SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! We are very eager to get the year started and are looking forward to working with your children this year.

During the last week of school in June, children brought home information for the “77 Days of Summer Reading Challenge”. We hope that you and your child/ren have enjoyed not only reading over the summer but were also able to take part in some different activities connected to books and reading. It is just about time to wrap up the challenge.

We are encouraging your child to turn in your packet one of two times. First, if you bring your child’s completed packet to our Open House on Wednesday, August 28th and give it to your child’s teacher, your child will automatically receive one extra ticket for turning in the challenge early. The other possible day, and the last possible day, to return the packet is on the first day of school. Again, your child will be giving it to his or her teacher.

On Friday, September 6th, we will be celebrating the work of reading over the summer. We will be rewarding the students for participating in the challenge. All students who participated will be eligible for a prize of their choosing. We have pencils, posters, costumes, and yes, even yoyos!

We look forward to continuing the Summer Reading Challenge for years to come. The benefit of summer reading can be such a positive experience for your child. Not to mention the advantage they have coming in to the year all ready to go. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jaime Carter via email: [email protected]
