This project is the result of many student volunteers from the SMHS art program coming together with the goal of honoring the wartime sacrifices of our communities’ families this Memorial Day. The installation is on display until May 31 at SMHS, after which the flowers will be offered for sale in support of the Visual Arts Special Projects Program. The Regional School Unit 24 Board of Directors will host a Public Hearing regarding the June 11, 2019 referendum on the issuance of bonds or notes to construct and equip a new middle/high school in an amount not to exceed $44,147,166. The Board will present the concept design and accept comments and answer questions about the proposed project, the portion of the project that will be supported with State funding, items that must be funded locally, and the impact of the debt service and estimated additional operating costs on local property taxes. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 6:30 P.M. at Sumner Memorial High School. All RSU 24 residents are cordially invited to attend.

Tax Implications for New Building Project

The document used as part of the Public Meeting and Straw Poll on March 20, 2019, which explained the budget (tax) implications, was inaccurate due to an error in the formula calculation. The corrected amounts are much more favorable and you will see a dramatic decrease in the tax burden from what was presented at the meeting.
